Funding towards renewable heating for your home
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides government funding towards eligible low carbon heating systems. Depending on your property, current heating system and chosen technology, you could receive up to £9,000 towards the cost of your installation.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme grants
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme helps property owners in England and Wales replace fossil fuel heating with eligible renewable alternatives. The grant is applied for by an MCS certified installer and deducted from the cost of the installation.

Enhanced heat pump grant
Available until 31 March 2027 for qualifying properties that are off the gas grid and replacing an eligible oil or LPG heating system with an air to water or ground source heat pump.

Standard heat pump grant
Available towards eligible air to water, ground source and water source heat pump installations.
£5,000
Biomass boiler grant
Available towards eligible biomass boiler installations. Certain log gasification systems may qualify where the appliance, property and installation meet the scheme requirements.

Air to air heat pump grant
Available towards eligible residential air to air heat pump installations.
Eligibility
Could your property qualify?
Eligibility depends on your property, its existing heating system and the technology being installed. Most grants are intended to support the replacement of fossil fuel systems such as gas, oil or LPG heating.
The enhanced £9,000 grant is not available simply because a property is rural. The home must be off the gas grid, have an eligible existing heating system and meet the relevant scheme requirements.
- The property is located in England or Wales
- The installation replaces an eligible fossil fuel heating system
- The proposed technology meets the scheme requirements
- The installation is completed by an MCS certified installer
- The property has a valid Energy Performance Certificate where required
How the application works
1. Speak to Bywhe

2. Home assessment
Our team assesses the property and recommends the most suitable renewable heating solution.
3. Eligibility check
We confirm which grant may apply and explain any conditions connected to the funding.
4. We manage the application
As an MCS certified installer, Bywhe submits the application on your behalf.
5. The grant is deducted
Once approved, the value of the grant is deducted from the amount you pay for the installation.
